Samsung Electronics is set to unveil its much-anticipated Galaxy S24 series on Jan. 18, boasting AI services and enhanced hardware performance.
The Galaxy S24 lineup will feature the Snapdragon 8 third-generation Application Processor (AP), enhancing the central processing unit (CPU) speed by 25 percent and the graphics processing unit (GPU) by 32 percent compared to its predecessor. A notably larger vapor chamber, twice the size of the previous model, effectively reduces heat. Additionally, a 12 percent increase in touch response speed ensures demanding games are instantly responsive. While the overall dimensions of the regular and Plus models in the Galaxy S24 series remain consistent with the Galaxy S23, the screen size has been increased by 0.1 inch from the previous model by reducing the bezel, which is the frame around the screen. The Galaxy S24 regular model will now have a 6.2-inch screen, up from 6.1 inches, and the Galaxy S23 Plus will feature a 6.7-inch screen, increased from 6.6 inches.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra maintains a 6.8-inch display, identical to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, it marks a first for the Galaxy series by incorporating durable titanium and replacing the ‘edge display’ with curved edges for a flat screen. Despite similarities in exterior design to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, IT news organizations report significant grip and screen immersion improvements.
Pricing for the regular and Plus models of the Galaxy S24 is expected to mirror that of their predecessors. Based on the 256GB models, the Galaxy S24 regular and S24 Plus are anticipated to be priced at $867.9 (1.15 million won) and $1,016.7 (1.35 million won), respectively. However, 512GB versions might see a slight price increase of $16.5 (22,000 won) due to rising memory semiconductors costs. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will see a starting price hike, with the 256GB version expected at $1,276 (1.70 million won), an increase of $74.4 (99,000 won) from its predecessor. Samsung Electronics is planning to accept pre-orders until Jan. 25, with the official launch of the Galaxy S24 series scheduled on Jan. 31.
