Beyond Honeycomb, a South Korean food tech startup, has entered into an agreement to provide its AI chef solution to the premium pork belly brand ‘Hanam Pig.’ Under the signed MOU, both companies will collaborate on the research, development, and commercialization of the AI chef solution, with a focus on exploring global expansion opportunities.

Beyond Honeycomb’s AI chef solution is engineered to quantify real-time cooking conditions at the molecular level, enabling a cooking robot to autonomously prepare food and replicate the chef’s taste. Having secured early-stage investments from entities like Naver D2SF and successfully raised a Series A investment from LB Investment last year, the startup has accumulated a total of 9.4 billion won in investments since its inception.

Building upon this business agreement, Beyond Honeycomb aims to utilize its dataset of over 500,000 food items to analyze Hanam Pig’s cooking style. The plan is to develop a customized kitchen solution covering aspects such as maintaining meat quality, initial processing techniques, and service methods. The resulting AI solution is expected to be implemented through Hanam Pig, setting the stage for both companies to jointly enter the global market.

Steve Jung, CEO of Beyond Honeycomb, emphasized in a release on Jan. 17, “Implementing the specialized initial processing system of Hanam Pig through an AI chef solution is a highly challenging and innovative project. Succeeding in the development and widespread adoption of an AI chef solution optimized for Hanam Pig, we anticipate making a significant impact in both domestic and global markets.”
