Samsung Electronics’ artificial intelligence smartphone, the Galaxy S24 series, has set a new sales record in the Indian market after just three days of pre-orders.

According to the news released on Samsung Electronics Newsroom on Jan. 23, pre-orders for the Galaxy S24 series in the Indian smartphone market have surpassed 250,000 units as of Jan. 21, local time, which is the highest ever.

Samsung announced that the sales of Galaxy S24 changed the three-weeks pre-order record of Galaxy S23, which was released last year, within just 3 days. Samsung initiated pre-order sales in the Indian market on Jan. 18.

Samsung Electronics has been working to boost its presence in India, the world’s second-largest smartphone market, by manufacturing its flagship model, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, at a local factory.

According to market research firm Canalys, Samsung held a 19% share of the Indian smartphone market last year, beating China’s Vivo (18 percent), Xiaomi (17%), and Realme (12%).

“The success of the Galaxy S24 series shows that Indian consumers are early adopters of new technologies, and we would like to thank the Indian market for their response,” said Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President of Mobile Business at Samsung Electronics India.
