Hyundai Motor Group, South Korea’s largest automaker, ranked third in global car sales for the second consecutive year.

Hyundai Motor Group, including Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis, sold 7.34 million vehicles in 2023, ranking third in global sales following Toyota Motor Group and Volkswagen Group, according to data compiled by each automaker on Feb. 18.

Toyota Group sold a record 11.23 million vehicles last year and Volkswagen Group’s sales reached 9.24 million.

Hyundai Motor Group solidified its position as the third-largest automaker in the world for the second consecutive year. The group outpaced the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, which sold 6.39 million vehicles. General Motors and Stellantis Group, which sold 6.18 million and 6.17 million vehicles, respectively, followed suit.

Hyundai Motor Group’s global car sales have gradually increased over the last 20 years. The group ranked tenth in 2010 and rose to fifth in 2010, overtaking the Ford Motor Company. Hyundai ascended to fourth place in 2020 before slipping back to fifth in 2021 but moved up to third in 2021.
