The debut of Samsung Electronics’ self-developed smart ring, the “Galaxy Ring,” at the MWC event in Barcelona, Spain on Feb. 26 (local time) is highly anticipated. This unveiling marks the first public introduction of the physical product, which will be available in black, gold, and silver, across nine different sizes.

Designed as a smart device, the Galaxy Ring collects and analyzes user health data, including sleep patterns and activity levels, with a lighter build compared to other smart rings on the market. It’s expected to hit the market in the latter half of the year.

At MWC, Samsung Electronics is also introducing cutting-edge intelligent health features for the first time. These include My Vitality Score, offering personalized health guidance based on various data like sleep and heart rate, and Booster Cards, which motivate users to set health-related goals. The company aims to enhance health features in wearable devices like the Galaxy Ring using AI.

The Galaxy Ring is projected to include sensors capable of measuring blood flow and electrocardiogram (ECG) functions, akin to those in smartwatches, enabling continuous monitoring of heart rate and blood pressure. Analysts suggest potential access to certain smartphone functions through the Galaxy Ring, with forecasts of it controlling smart home appliances and facilitating convenient payments independent of a smartphone.
