Shin Yoo-Yeol is the Executive Vice President of Lotte Chemicals.

Born in London, England, as the eldest child of Lotte Holdings Chairman Shin Dong-bin, Shin graduated from Keio University in Japan and worked at Nomura Securities. He earned his MBA at Columbia University School of Business in the United States, where he was recognized for following in his father’s footsteps.

Shin currently works in planning at Lotte Holdings in Japan and as a senior vice president at Lotte Chemicals in South Korea, giving him a foot in both Korean and Japanese Lotte. He has been increasingly visible as a successor, recently attending group presidency meetings with Chairman Shin Dong-bin. In June 2023, Lotte Group will launch the Future Growth Task Force, and there are observations that Shin’s succession will be in full swing.

However, nationality and military service issues have been cited as obstacles to the succession. Unlike Chairman Shin, who renounced his Japanese citizenship in 1996, Mr. Shin holds only Japanese citizenship.
