The SPC Group opened the 100th overseas outlet of bakery chain Paris Baguette in Vietnam on Thursday. The group held an opening ceremonly for its first bakery in the Southeast Asian country in Ho Chi Minh City's downtown business district.
SPC announced it plans to earn W2 trillion (US$1=W1,137) in sales by opening 3,000 Paris Baguette stores in 60 countries by 2020, partly because it believes the domestic market is saturated.
Paris Baguette began making inroads into overseas markets in 2004, when it opened an outlet in Shanghai's Gubei district. It now has 80 stores in China and 19 in the U.S.
SPC is Korea's largest franchise chain and operates more than 5,000 outlets like Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins. It has 3,010 Paris Baguettes in Korea alone.
