Research In Motion (RIM) unveiled a new prototype of its BlackBerry featuring an on-screen keyboard at its annual BlackBerry World conference in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday (local time). The model is set to be released within this year.
The Canadian telecom and mobile company's original BlackBerry enjoyed a short-lived reputation as a must-have smartphone for office workers in the U.S. because they could check their e-mail and exchange online messages long before other mobile phone makers followed suit.
However, RIM is now moving to revamp the model by ditching its physical keyboard to regain its market presence after ceding ground to the likes of Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy.
