The new iPhone X was rated lower than Samsung's Galaxy S8 and LG's G6 by Consumer Reports of the U.S., which only ranked Apple's flagship phone ninth overall.
The Galaxy S8 came top with 82 points, and the Galaxy S8 Plus was runner-up with 81 points. In fifth was the Galaxy Note 8 and in eighth LG's G6. Apple's iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8, which were released in September, came third and fourth.
Consumer Reports was put off by the iPhone X's short battery life and lack of durability considering the hefty price tag of US$1,000. In a test, the battery lasted for 19.5 hours, well behind the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, which lasted 26 hours.
When subjected to shock 50 times, the display of two out of three iPhone Xs no longer worked properly, and the back of the phone broke when it was dropped 100 times.
