Korean chipmakers continued to lead the global DRAM market in the second quarter of this year.

According to market tracker TrendForce, global DRAM companies' revenue saw a 20 percent increase to US$11.43 billion in the second quarter compared to the quarter before, backed by higher demand for AI chips.

Among them, SK Hynix posted the highest on-quarter growth, climbing 48.9 percent to US$3.44 billion. It was also the only firm in the DRAM sector to see a rise in market share, which grew from 24.4 to 30.1 percent over the same period, retaking the No. 2 spot from U.S.-based Micron.

Samsung remained at the top of the market with revenue of $4.53 billion, up 8.6 percent, but its market share dropped from 43.9 to 39.6 percent.
