Wives of the Los Angeles Dodgers players pose in front of the CJ Olive Young store near Eonju Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on March 17, in this photo captured from Instagram.

A group of Los Angeles Dodgers players’ wives shopped at Olive Young, a K-beauty mecca, while in South Korea for the Major League Baseball World Tour Seoul Series.

According to industry sources on March 18, about 10 wives of the Dodgers players, including Dasha Outman, wife of outfielder James Outman, and Cara Smith, wife of catcher Will Smith, visited the Olive Young Eonju Station branch in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around noon the previous day.

They reportedly visited the store voluntarily, not at Olive Young’s invitation. The store near Eonju Station is directly accessible by Subway Line 9 from Yeouido, where the team’s accommodations is located. After shopping, they sought skin care treatments at a dermatology clinic near the station.

Cara Smith shared a group shopping photo on Instagram, showing the players’ wives smiling in front of the store with Olive Young’s green shopping bags. Dasha Outman praised Korean skincare on social media, writing, “Korean skincare is the best!”

Shohei Ohtani’s wife, Mamiko Tanaka, despite attracting significant attention, was reportedly absent and not pictured in any of the photos.

Savannah James, wife of LeBron James, an NBA player for the Los Angeles Lakers, also made a recent visit to Olive Young during a private trip to South Korea, as revealed on Instagram with a video of her group holding shopping bags filled with products.

Olive Young, offering a wide range of cosmetics from well-known domestic to emerging brands, is often regarded by foreigners as a “must-visit beauty shopping destination” in South Korea. Its popularity among foreign visitors is increasing, with sales at the Myeong-dong Olive Young store to foreign visitors having soared sevenfold, or 590%, year-on-year. In response, Olive Young has introduced stores in Myeong-dong specifically designed for foreign tourists.

The Dodgers are set to face the San Diego Padres in the opening two-game series of the 2024 MLB season at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on March 20 and 21. For the first MLB regular season game ever held in South Korea, the Dodgers arrived in the country on a chartered flight, accompanied by spouses or girlfriends. The games will be broadcast live on Coupang Play.
