Busy homemakers no longer need to ask their children to buy cooking ingredients. Even in situations where leaving the house is not possible, simply ordering a cup of coffee qualifies for free delivery. Residents of Samsung C&T’s apartment complex, Raemian Leaders One, will be able to order and receive food and beverages through autonomous robot service from nearby cafés, snack shops, and side dish stores, eliminating the need for direct visits.
Samsung C&T’s construction division announced on June 4 that it will trial operate the “Deli-Pick Me” service for the apartment residents in collaboration with the autonomous robot service company Neubility. When residents order online from stores near the complex, self-driving robots will cross intersections and navigate through alleys to deliver items to the entrance of each building’s first floor.
Autonomous delivery robots were previously limited to operation within regulated sandbox environments, primarily within the confines of community facilities within the complex. However, with recent amendments to road traffic laws and the enforcement of intelligent robot regulations, the scope has expanded to include stores outside the complex. Samsung C&T plans to introduce autonomous delivery robots to other complexes besides Raemian Leaders One and is also preparing a service to transport personal belongings or parcels to homes.
