SK Telecom will begin taking pre-orders for the AI-enhanced Galaxy Quantum 5 on August 23, with official release and customer activation scheduled for August 28.
The Galaxy Quantum series, a line of Android smartphones from Samsung’s Galaxy A series, is exclusively available in South Korea through SK Telecom. A key feature of the series is the integration of SK Telecom’s proprietary quantum encryption technology.
The Galaxy Quantum 5 introduces Samsung’s popular AI feature, “Circle to Search,” which allows users to easily access search results by drawing a circle on the screen. The device also features a larger 6.6-inch display, up from the previous model’s 6.4 inches, and is equipped with a 50MP high-resolution wide-angle camera that minimizes noise in low-light conditions. The phone’s design incorporates a metal frame on the sides and a glass back, enhancing both durability and aesthetics.
Despite these upgrades, the Galaxy Quantum 5 maintains the same price as its predecessor at 618,200 won, making it an attractive option for price-sensitive consumers. The phone is available in three colors: “Awesome Ice Blue,” “Awesome Navy,” and “Awesome Lilac.”
As the fifth quantum-secure phone from SK Telecom, the Galaxy Quantum 5 includes a QRNG (Quantum Random Number Generator) chipset. Like previous models, it allows for encryption of information stored on external memory using QRNG. The device also features a “Quantum Indicator” notification in the status bar, confirming that quantum security services are active. This notification can be toggled on or off, but the QRNG function remains continuously operational as a system default.
Yoo Chul-jun, Head of Smart Device CT at SK Telecom, stated, “The Galaxy Quantum 5 is the latest in the Galaxy Quantum series, combining premium performance with advanced AI features. We will continue to work towards providing customers with convenient AI functionalities at a reasonable price.”
