Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong will attend the annual China Development Forum (CDF) on March 23, marking his first appearance in two years. The CDF is a high-level forum hosted by the China Development Research Foundation of China’s State Council.
According to the list of participants released by the CDF’s organizer on March 22, more than 80 global business leaders will participate in the event, including Lee Jae-yong, SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. Executives from global companies such as AMD, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Synopsys, Pfizer, FedEx, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Bosch, Siemens, and Aramco will also attend.
Lee visited Xiaomi’s electric vehicle plant and met with Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun ahead of the conference on March 22. While Xiaomi competes with Samsung in smartphones and home appliances, it has recently expanded into the electric vehicle market, raising the possibility of collaboration with Samsung in areas such as automotive semiconductors, displays, and batteries. The two leaders reportedly discussed potential cooperation in these sectors.
