Hyundai Motor Group said on April 15 it will appoint former U.S. Congressman Drew Ferguson as the new head of its Washington Office, effective May 1.

Ferguson will be responsible for overseeing the group’s communication with the U.S. government and Congress, the company said.

A four-term Republican representative from Georgia, Ferguson is known for his strong understanding of policy under the Trump administration.

During Trump’s first term, he supported major initiatives such as revitalizing domestic manufacturing, creating jobs, and overhauling the tax code.

He also played a key role in advancing legislation aimed at strengthening the country’s industrial base, contributing to policy development within the Republican Party.

Ferguson is also considered well acquainted with Hyundai Motor Group, having long served as a lawmaker in Georgia, where the company’s major U.S. production hubs—including Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA)—are located.

“With Ferguson taking the helm of our Washington Office, we expect to engage more effectively with the U.S. government and respond more quickly to policy changes in the U.S.,” a company official said.
