Actor Hong Suk-chun, the first Korean celebrity to come out of the closet, has been selected by TIME Magazine as the 2004 Asian Hero.
TIME Asia, which is published in Hong Kong, has chosen Hong as the 2004 Asian Hero and will carry as special feature about him in an edition slated for Oct. 11.
TIME Magazine has highly assessed Hong's courage to reveal his sexual orientation in conservative Korean society. Hong joined the Democratic Labor Party on Aug. 17, turning into a politician.
