One day after the results of the group draw for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil were revealed, Son Heung-min scored a game winner for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany's Bundesliga on Saturday. It was his seventh league goal of the season.
Son scored the decisive goal in the 18th minute in an away game with Borussia Dortmund, last season's UEFA Champions League runner-up. He received a pass in the front of the penalty box, feinted to put the keeper off guard and shot from the left of the box from a sharp angle with his left foot.
Leverkusen has won its last four straight games and is now second in the league with 37 points from 12 wins, one draw, and two losses. Bayern Munich leads with 41 points.
If Son, who is often being touted as Korea's hottest player, continues to perform at such a level during the quadrennial football showcase next summer, Korea could expect favorable results in Brazil. Korea was drawn against Algeria, Belgium and Russia in Group H.
