Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson led the Great Britain and Ireland team, packed with football stars such as David Beckham, Michael Owen, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. The Rest of the World XI team boasted a lineup including Luís Figo of Portugal, Michael Ballack of Germany and Ronaldinho of Brazil.

Owen scored twice to lift his team to a 3-1 victory. All proceeds from ticket sales went to UNICEF's efforts to help children in need.

Three French players in the all-star match -- Mikael Silvestre, Patrick Vieira and Zinedine Zidane -- withdrew from the event in the wake of Saturday's terrorist attacks in Paris.

A minute of silence was observed before kick-off to honor the victims of the attacks.
