Boy band Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, and their agency Big Hit Entertainment have donated US$1 million to support concert staff hit by the coronavirus.

U.S. live entertainment company Live Nation said on Wednesday the donation was made to its Crew Nation initiative, an artists' donation campaign launched in March to help concert staff in need as concerts around the world have been canceled or delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Live Nation kicked off the campaign by donating $5 million itself and will match the next $5 million donated by artists and fans. Artists such as John Mayer, Metallica, U2 and Coldplay have already pledged support to the campaign.

Music industry workers in need can apply for relief payments.

BTS said, "If it weren't for the coronavirus, we would have been happily on a tour across the world with many of our concert staff by now. We wanted to support music industry staff by making a donation."
