Kim Yeon-koung

Volleyball star Kim Yeon-koung will play in China in the upcoming season after her brief return to the Korean league.

Kim has signed a contract with Shanghai Bright Ubest, formerly Shanghai Guohua Life, for which she played in the 2017-18 season, her agent said on Thursday.

At the time, Kim led the team to a league title and a runner-up finish in the championship.

Last season, she played for Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders in the Korean league after spending 11 years overseas, mostly in Turkey.

"I made the decision after a lot of thought," Kim said. "I will never forget the love and support I received from Korean fans. I'm really thankful for that."
