Volleyball player Lee Jae-yeong is surrounded by reporters at Incheon International Airport on Oct. 16.

Disgraced volleyball star Lee Jae-yeong of Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki has returned to Korea for treatment of an injured knee.

She joined the Greek club with her twin sister Da-yeong in mid-October but was benched recently due to pain in her left knee.

Doctors there prescribed six weeks of treatment and recuperation, and she decided to have further tests, surgery and rehabilitation in Korea.

She has been in self-isolation since arriving last Friday and is expected to return to her Greek team as early as January.

The twin sisters, who were dropped by the Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders over allegations of past school bullying, moved to Greece to continue their volleyball career as they are unable to play here.
