Actress Seo Hyun-jin talks at a press event for her upcoming film in Seoul on Tuesday.

Actress Seo Hyun-jin's new film "Cassiopeia," which tells the story of a family impacted by Alzheimer's disease, is set for release next month.

In the film, Seo plays a woman whose efforts to live a perfect life as a lawyer, mother and daughter are derailed when she loses her memory to Alzheimer's.

"I tried to find a way to meet Alzheimer's patients before shooting the film to learn about the disease and get more of an idea of how to relate to the role, but I was unable to do so due to the surging COVID cases at the time," Seo recalled at a press event in Seoul on Tuesday ahead of the film's release.

"But I was able to talk with them virtually and hear about their suffering. I also have an acquaintance with a similar form of memory loss, so those things gave me some ideas for getting into the role," she said.

"When I first read the script of the film two years ago, I was eager to be part of the film as I was fascinated by how the story is told. But once shooting began, I had difficulty portraying the role and was getting anxious about that," Seo admitted. "But I did my best, although I'm not fully satisfied. I hope the film will touch the hearts of moviegoers," the actress added.

The film is set to hit local theaters on June 1.
