Historical war movie "Hansan: Rising Dragon" has drawn over 6 million viewers.
The milestone was reached on Liberation Day, about three weeks after its release last month.
The epic blockbuster about the evergreen exploits of Admiral Yi Sun-shin during the Japanese invasion of Korea in the 16th century became the second Korean film to surpass the milestone this year, after the crime action flick "The Roundup" starring actor Ma Dong-seok, which drew over 12 million viewers in late June.
"Hansan" is the sequel to director Kim Han-min's mega hit "The Admiral: Roaring Currents," which drew 17.61 million viewers in 2014 to become the biggest box-office hit in the history of Korean cinema. It is also the second installment of Kim's planned trilogy.
