Im Sung-jae finished runner-up at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, which wrapped on Sunday.
It is the final event of the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup, with only the top 30 players on the points list qualifying each year.
In the fourth and final round, Im finished tied for second place with Scottie Scheffler of the U.S., one stroke behind Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, who ended up at 21 under for the tournament, capturing victory.
With Sunday's runner-up finish, Im, who became the first Korean to qualify for the Tour Championship for four consecutive years, also broke the previous best result -- Choi Kyung-ju's fifth-place finish in 2007 -- becoming the most successful Asian golfer in the tournament's history.
His compatriot Lee Kyoung-hoon finished 27th.
