Oh Seung-ah

Actress Oh Seung-ah plays yet another villainous role in her new TV series, "Bride of the Typhoon," which is scheduled to air on KBS in October.

"I used to want to play different kinds of roles other than villains, but I've learned that each antagonist has a different life. Now my aim is to be a good actress who can skillfully portray the lives of any characters I take on," she said.

Oh debuted in showbiz as a member of girl group Rainbow in 2009 and turned to acting after the group disbanded in 2016.

"I once had a break of about 20 months between album releases, and it was really hard to spend time not working. So I decided to get into acting more seriously," she said.

She first grabbed attention as an actress with the lead role in the KBS drama "A Sea of Her Own" in 2017. Since then, she has played "bad girls" in a number of TV series.

"Villain characters often express intense emotions and sometimes try to kill people. Now I feel that I've improved after every project, but at first, I was confused while playing a villain, having to remind myself that I'm not a bad person," she said.

Oh had hoped her next project would be a melodrama, but plays a villain once again.

"My character doesn't even have anyone on her side this time," she said. "I think every character has a reason to be in the story. I'm sure I will get an opportunity to show various sides of myself if I keep working hard at what I have to do."
