Actress Park So-dam is returning to the big screen in a spy thriller about a year after her thyroid cancer surgery.
At a press event early this week for the film "Phantom," Park said she feels nervous but happy.
After being diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in December last year, Park had to put her career on hold to undergo surgery and receive treatment.
"I felt sorry for causing concern. I always told my fans to keep themselves healthy both physically and mentally, so I felt like I didn't follow my own advice," she said.
"This time last year I couldn't speak and was in bed after surgery. Now I'm here and I'm happy that I can meet fans in good health with 'Phantom.' At the same time, I'm so nervous that my hands are sweating. It feels like a new start," she added.
Set in 1933 with Korea under Japanese colonial rule, the film revolves around a group of people who are confined to a remote hotel as they are suspected of being spies for an anti-Japanese organization. While they struggle to escape from the hotel, real spies try to complete their mission.
The film, also starring Sol Kyung-gu, Lee Honey and Park Hae-soo, is scheduled for release on Jan. 18.
