Star TV presenter Park Ji-yoon and her equally famous colleague Choi Dong-seok are going through divorce mediation after 14 years of marriage.
"After a long period of consideration, I have decided to part ways with Choi," Park said in a statement through her agency.
She expressed regret that the divorce became public before the process is finalized, saying, "I hope we can support each other as parents for our children."
She asked the media to avoid speculation for the sake of her children.
Park joined KBS as a presenter in 2004, where she met Choi. The couple have a son and a daughter. In 2021, she revealed that her husband had health issues and they moved to Jeju Island. His symptoms included dizziness, autophony and eye twitches due to a problem in his inner ear.
At doctors' recommendation Choi took a short leave and stepped down as anchor of KBS's main news program "News 9" just a year after taking the position.
The following year he left KBS altogether.
