Blackpink’s music video for “Pink Venom,” the song that previewed the group’s second album, has surpassed 800 million views on YouTube.
According to YG Entertainment on Jan. 28, Blackpink’s “Pink Venom” music video surpassed 800 million views on YouTube at 4:57 p.m. the previous day. It is the group’s 12th video to reach 800 million views, about a year and five months after its release on Aug. 19, 2022.
The music video set a new record for a female artist by receiving 90.4 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of its release. It then crossed the milestone of 100 million views in just 29 hours and 35 minutes, becoming the fastest K-pop girl group to do so. In just 7.5 days, the video crossed 200 million views, indicating a significant surge in its popularity.
The song’s performance is also noteworthy. Immediately after its release, it reached the top spot of iTunes in 81 countries, held the number 1 position on the US Billboard Global 200 chart for two consecutive weeks, and topped the Billboard Global chart for three consecutive weeks. It also debuted at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Chart, indicating its strong influence in the global music market.
Blackpink’s official YouTube channel currently has a whopping 92.81 million subscribers, making them the top artist in the world, surpassing K-pop. They have 45 billion-view videos and have accumulated over 345.9 billion views on their content, constantly breaking firsts and records every day as the “YouTube Queen.”
Blackpink celebrated the spectacular finale of the largest K-pop girl group’s world tour, “Blackpink World Tour [Born Pink] Finale in Seoul,” which spanned 34 cities and 66 dates. Adding in the Coachella Festival in the U.S. (250,000 people on both days) and Hyde Park in the U.K. (65,000 people), where they were the first Asian artist to perform as headliners, they shared the stage with a total of 2.15 million music fans, demonstrating their ‘world class’ status.
