David Beckham, a world-renowned superstar, who has always expressed his admiration for Korean cuisine, visited a barbecue restaurant during his recent trip to South Korea.
Beckham, who was visiting Korea after four years, attended the Adidas brand flagship store to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Adidas’s ‘Predator’ franchise, a range of football boots, in Myeong-dong, Seoul, on Jan. 29.
During the official event, he said, “I am delighted to meet Korean fans again. Seoul, a city that inspires me with its fashion, always fills me with excitement.” Beckham also spoke highly of Son Heung-min, describing him as a player with great character and someone whose play he finds enjoyable to watch.
After the event, Beckham visited ‘Geumdweji Sikdang(golden pig restaurant)’, a pork barbecue restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul. Geumdweji Sikdang is a restaurant selected for the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand. It is known that Beckham visited Geumdweji Sikdang, recommended by his favorite Korean restaurant in New York
Enjoying grilled meat with alcohol, he engaged in fan service by signing autographs and taking photos with fans who recognized him. Fans were excited saying, “Meeting Beckham in a Seoul barbecue restaurant was an awesome experience.”.
Beckham has expressed his love for Korean food on several occasions.
In a Youtube video filmed last year, he said that he loves Korean food, enjoying grilled meat and Korea’s traditional side dishes. He even mentioned that his daughter looks for kimchi when she comes home from school. He also added that he enjoys drinking soju, a popular S. Korean alcoholic beverage.
Additionally, during his visit to S. Korea in 2019, he enjoyed a meal at a barbecue restaurant in Majang-dong, Seoul, and has consistently presented his affection for Korean cuisine by posting photos of dining out on Korean food with his family.
Beckham started his professional soccer career at Manchester United in the English Premier League in 1993. He played for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy (USA), and Paris Saint-Germain (France) before retiring in 2013. He was well-known for his exceptional free-kick skills and good looks. Currently, Beckham co-owns Inter Miami in MLS and is actively involved in contracting with top players like Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.
