The K-pop girl group Blackpink members are stepping up their solo careers, launching their own labels one after another. Three members of the four officially kicked off their journey, leaving only Rose.
While BLACKPINK has extended its contract for group activities with YG Entertainment, members have decided to launch their own labels for individual activities.
Jennie was the first member to announce the news. On Dec. 24 last year, she took to Instagram to announce the new endeavor, ODD ATELIER (OA). OA is a space for creating new things.
“I’m also excited about what’s to come as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course BLACKPINK. Thank you.”
Jennie kicked off her solo projects by appearing in KBS 2TV’s new music talk show “The Seasons: Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet.” The singer is set to appear on the upcoming tvN variety show “Apartment 404,” scheduled for a premiere on Feb. 23.
Member Lisa also founded her own management company named LLOUD. On Feb. 8, Lisa posted, “Introducing LLOUD, a platform to showcase my vision in music in entertainment.” Lisa asked fans to “join me on this exciting journey to push through new boundaries together.”
The K-pop rapper-singer is expanding her field into Hollywood. Lisa is set to make her acting debut in the third series of the Emmy-winning HBO series “The White Lotus,” Variety and local media on Feb. 12. The series follows guests and employees at a high-end resort chain “White Lotus” over the course of the week.
The production of season three begins in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok. Lisa’s role has not been disclosed, and the detailed plot of the series is being kept under wraps. However, Executive producer and director Mike White hinted that the third season will “take a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.”
Lisa will join the cast of Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, and Emmy-nominee Natasha Rothwell. White Lotus marks her debut as an actress and entry in the United States. Lisa will be credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal.
Blackpink’s Jisoo unveiled her solo agency, BLISSOO, and uploaded a new profile on Feb. 21. The agency opened an official Instagram account and posted, “Transcending the boundaries of genres and fields, our mission is to share the happiness that JISOO creates in her own unique way.
In a post made to her personal Instagram account, Jisoo wrote, “Hello, this is Jisoo. I’m excited to share my new start with BLISSOO. Stay tuned for what’s to come, as I’m dedicated to bringing joy and happiness to each and every one of you. Please continue to shower your love and support for Jisoo with BLISSOO, and also for BLACKPINK. Thank you.
