The San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 15-11 on March 21 to tie the set of games in the Seoul series, treating fans to a frenzied show that saw the teams total for 33 hits.
The Padres won the second game of Major League Baseball (MLB)’s Seoul Series. The Dodgers previously won 5-2 in the very first MLB game.
Padres’ Jake Cronenworth redeemed himself from the first game by going 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. His glove malfunction on March 20 cost the Padres the series opener. Manny Machado sealed their lead in the top of the ninth, hitting a homer to end the game 15-11.
South Korean star Kim Ha-seong came up in the top of the first with the Padres already up 2-0. Kim hit a sacrifice fly, bringing Cronenworth home from third. It marked Kim’s first RBI of the series at home. Kim finished the game 1-for-4 with a walk and one RBI scored.
The first home run of the 2024 MLB season belongs to Mookie Betts. The Dodgers’ shortstop hit one 122 m inside Gocheok Sky Dome, earning himself a brand-new IONIQ 5 sponsored by Hyundai. Betts finished the game 4-for-6 with six RBI and two runs scored.
Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-5 and managed a run in his first game since accusing his former interpreter of stealing his money for gambling. Ohtani brought thousands of fans to their feet, hoping for one last shot in the bottom of the eighth, but Ohtani only managed a groundout to first base.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s debut at the Majors ended in disappointment as he got through just one inning, allowing five runs on four hits and one walk. The Dodgers closely followed within one point until the eighth, but Machado managed a three-run home run to beat Dodgers by 15-11.
