Girl group ILLIT shared their debut impressions at a showcase held at the Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on Mar. 25.
Dubbed “HYBE’s youngest daughter,” ILLIT expressed their excitement, saying, “We’ve been dreaming of this day,” and promised to bring positive energy.
The five-member group released their first mini-album, “Super Real Me,” marking a decisive step into the music industry. Member Minju said, “I was grateful every day and want to showcase everything I’ve worked on for a long time.” Iroha shared, “I’ve been preparing diligently and waiting for today. I’m happy and excited to finally debut. I promise to show you more amazing sides of myself in the future.”
Wonhee expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to debut with her fellow members, “I’m thankful to debut alongside the members. As it’s our first appearance, I stand here with a fluttering heart. I promise we’ll always bring ILLIT’s unique and quirky charm to you.” Moka said, “Thank you for joining us on our debut day. I’ve waited with excitement, as much as we’ve worked hard. I can’t wait to share our voice with you and spread positive energy.” Yunah conveyed her excitement and passion, saying, “Ever since I was young, I’ve loved to dance and sing. Standing on stage as part of ILLIT is a dream come true,” highlighting their determination for the debut.
ILLIT, the third girl group created by HYBE and the first girl group by Belift Lab, boy band Enhypen’s agency, was formed last year through the audition program “R U NEXT?” It consists of five elite members, each with visual, vocal, performance skills, expressiveness, and genre adaptability.
Upon making their first appearance, curiosity arises about the group’s name. “ILLIT combines the self-driven and proactive intention ‘I WILL’ with the pronoun ‘IT’ that signifies something special,” explained Yunah. “It embodies our direction as a group with ‘endless potential,’ capable of becoming anything and is expected to become something great, depending on the verb that fits between these two words.”
Moka added, “There’s so much we want to do and show. The name ‘ILLIT,’ implying we can become anything, seems to fit us perfectly.” Wonhee expressed her contentment with the name, saying, “It feels just right for us. Each of us has a distinct personality. I love how it suggests we’ll bring diverse aspects of ourselves together through our unique synergy.”
