South Korean actor Ma Dong-seok has earned the title of a ‘60 million viewer actor’, a milestone reached as his latest film, ‘The Outlaws 4′, directed by Heo Myeung-haeng, surpassed 10 million viewers in just 22 days.
The movie reached the 10 million viewer milestone at 7:30 a.m. on May 15, making it the fastest film to achieve this feat this year. Additionally, it set a record as the first Korean series film to achieve a ‘triple 10 million viewers’ milestone, reaching 10 million viewers in three separate films of the series, faster than any other serial films.
The Outlaws 4 reached 10 million viewers faster than any Korean film since ‘Extreme Job’ was released in 2019. It has shattered all box office records over the past six years and set a new benchmark for Korean films. This film is now the 33rd to reach the 10 million viewer mark in Korean cinema history and the 24th to reach the 10 million viewer mark quickly.
With ‘The Outlaws’ series reaching its third 10-million-viewer mark, Ma Dong-seok, who also starred in the first and second films of ‘Along with the Gods’ and ‘Train to Busan,’ has become the actor with the most 10-million-viewer hits in Korean cinema history.
The film had the highest opening of the year, attracting 880,000 moviegoers on its first day. It then reached 1 million viewers on day 2, 2 million on the morning of day 4, and 3 million by the afternoon of the same day. It reached 4 million on day 5, 5 million on day 7, 6 million on day 9, 7 million on day 11, 8 million on day 13, 9 million on day 17, and finally 10 million on day 22.
