K-pop star G-Dragon appears on the cover of Elle’s July issue, wearing Chanel’s 2023/24 Métiers d’art Collection. He showcases a multicolored tweed with a genderless twist, reinforcing his status as a timeless fashion icon.
Following the photoshoot, G-Dragon discussed his recent unexpected appointment as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). “This is a very new challenge for me,” he said. “I was both dumbfounded and excited when I first visited the campus. KAIST is full of passionate individuals. The students’ immersion in their work blurs the line between academics and everyday life, reminding me of my childhood in the lab, thinking and exploring.”
G-Dragon also shared his wide-ranging interests, including reading. “I’m curious about many different things rather than one specific area. As a creator and a human being, I desire to challenge the unfamiliar. If it’s not my expertise, I’m willing to borrow others’ knowledge to achieve a higher output level.”
When asked about his long-standing partnership with Chanel, G-Dragon said, “I don’t see it as work. Just as I view music not as a job but as a passion, my relationship with Chanel has lasted because it’s more of a friendship. Sincerity always works,” showcasing his global ambassador presence.
