Amidst a wave of Korean actors receiving international offers and joining global projects, such as Lee Jung-jae, who became the first Korean to join the “Star Wars” series with his role in the Disney+ original series “Acolytes,” and Han Hyo-joo, who confirmed her casting in the Japanese Netflix series “Romantic Anonymous” alongside Shun Oguri, another notable announcement has been made. On June.18., an entertainment agency, 51K, announced, “Taec-yeon (Ok Taec-yeon) will appear in the Japanese movie ‘La Grande Maison Paris.’ Please show your support and anticipation,” raising expectations.
“La Grande Maison Paris” is an adaptation of the popular drama “La Grande Maison Tokyo,” which aired on TBS in 2019. The main actors from the drama, including Takuya Kimura, Kyoka Suzuki, Ikki Sawamura, and Mitsuhiro Oikawa, have reunited to add a special touch to the film. The story follows genius chefs Natsuki Obana (Takuya Kimura) and Rinko Hayami (Kyoka Suzuki), who open a Michelin three-star restaurant in Japan. They then established Grand Maison Paris in Paris, the heart of French cuisine, aiming to achieve another Michelin three-star rating. This narrative is brought to life by a perfect ensemble of Japan’s leading actors.
In this production, Taec-yeon will capture the audience’s attention as Rick Yuan, a Korean-Canadian pastry chef who frequently clashes with the charismatic head chef, Natsuki Obana, played by Takuya Kimura. Rick Yuan is depicted as a pastry chef with the skills to own his own shop and an unparalleled passion for desserts. Ok is expected to deliver an impactful performance, showcasing his trilingual abilities in Japanese, French, and his native Korean.
