The Korean film ‘Escape’ topped the overall box office on July 3, its first release day, kicking off a promising box office run.

According to the Korean Film Council’s Box Office Database, ‘Escape’ attracted 112,658 moviegoers on its opening day, surpassing ‘Inside Out 2′ to claim the top spot at the overall box office. This achievement is significant as it marks the first time in 22 days that a Korean film has taken the top position at the global box office.

With a 92% rating on the CGV Golden Egg Index, Escape is expected to generate substantial word-of-mouth buzz and solidify its status as a box office powerhouse this summer.

Audiences have praised the film, commenting on the intense storyline and strong performances. Viewers described it as “the bloody chase Kyu-nam’s determination and Hyun-sang’s obsession” and remarked, “A movie that makes you think twice about freedom; the actors’ performances are so good, I felt like I was escaping.” Other reviews highlighted the actors’ charisma, the unrelenting suspense, and the urgency of the chase that drives the film from beginning to end.
