T1 clinched victory against China’s Top Esports (TES) in the League of Legends (LoL) finals at the Esports World Cup (EWC).
T1 is a Korean team owned by SK Telecom CS T1 Co., Ltd., a joint venture between SK Telecom and Comcast Spectacor. They were previously known as SK Telecom T1.
On July. 8 (Korean time), T1 secured a 3:1 comeback win over TES in the EWC 2024 LoL finals held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Despite a crushing defeat in the first set in just 23 minutes, T1 countered TES’s offensive from the second set onwards with focused gameplay.
EWC is a tournament organized to showcase Saudi Arabia’s commitment to esports. T1 not only claimed the first-ever EWC LoL championship trophy but also took home the first-place prize of $400,000.
T1 achieved an undefeated streak in this tournament. They advanced to the finals by defeating Bilibili Gaming (BLG) 2:1 in the quarterfinals on the 5th and Team Liquid 2:1 in the semifinals on the 7th. In the finals, they overcame TES to claim the championship.
