Lisa, a member of girl group Blackpink, has become embroiled in another plagiarism controversy. Following issues related to costume similarities last month, her solo track “Rockstar” is now under scrutiny due to its music video.
British photographer and director Gabriel Moses raised allegations, posting a screenshot from Lisa’s “Rockstar” video on Instagram and claiming it resembles his work in Travis Scott’s hip-hop song “FE!N.”
In the “Rockstar” video, Lisa dances among a line of people dressed in white, wearing hoods and expressionless faces. Moses pointed out that a similar scene appears in “FE!N,” featuring children in white clothes lined up.
Both videos share similarities in the arrangement of models, their blank expressions, and the frontal camera angles. However, while Lisa’s models perform alongside her, the children in “FE!N” are filmed as the camera moves past them reciting lyrics.
Moses alleged that Lisa’s team contacted his editor, saying that “FE!N” was used as a reference, although the editor declined to accept this claim. He has since requested a response from Lisa’s team regarding the issue.
Lisa recently left YG Entertainment, where she debuted, to establish her own label, Lloud Company. Her latest release marks her first project since this transition. However, she faced accusations that her music video costumes were copied from the original designs of Chinese designer Yang Yue, who wrote on social media, “Stylist, please stop embarrassing yourself.”
