2NE1, one of the most iconic idol groups under YG Entertainment, is set to make a highly anticipated return with a grand solo concert celebrating their 15th debut anniversary.
According to YG Entertainment, 2NE1 will hold the ‘2024 2NE1 CONCERT ‘WELCOME BACK’ IN SEOUL’ on Oct. 5 and 6 in the Seoul Olympic Park.
The concert title, ‘WELCOME BACK,’ embodies the members’ desire to reunite with their fans. This marks their first solo concert in about 10 years and 6 months since the ‘ALL OR NOTHING’ in SEOUL’ concert in Mar. 2014, leading to a surge in ticket reservations.
2NE1′s complete comeback is especially noteworthy as their success paved the way for other famous girl groups from YG. Renowned for their outstanding live performances and unique stage presence, the members showcased their enduring talent at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, leaving a strong impression on the global stage.
Additionally, their collaboration with YG’s head producer, Yang Hyun-suk, is expected to create remarkable synergy. Yang, the founder of YG, had previously announced full support for 2NE1′s comeback. Combining YG’s extensive know-how from world tours and the members’ unwavering live performance skills, this concert is anticipated to be a festival marking a new chapter for 2NE1.
An official from YG stated, “Given that this is a monumental year for 2NE1, marking their 15th debut anniversary and the dramatic decision by the members to reunite, we were determined to start their concert within this year. Although concerts in Kobe’s World Hall in Japan at the end of November and Tokyo’s Ariake Arena in early December are confirmed, we prioritized opening in Korea first, reflecting the members’ strong desire.”
Typically, booking concert venues domestically and internationally require several months of advance planning. Despite their best efforts to find a venue for this year, larger venues were already fully booked, making the booking of Olympic Hall extremely fortunate.
YG officials explained that, given the overwhelming expectations since the announcement of the Seoul concert, intense competition for tickets is anticipated. They expressed regret for not being able to accommodate more fans in Korea but promised a high-quality performance and looked forward to bringing more good news in the future.
Starting with the Seoul concerts on Oct. 5 and 6, 2NE1 plans to expand their global tour schedule, including Kobe and Tokyo, to reach as many fans worldwide as possible through next year.
General ticket sales for ‘2024 2NE1 CONCERT ‘WELCOME BACK’ IN SEOUL’ will begin on Aug. 5 at 8 PM via the online ticketing site Interpark Ticket. There will be no pre-sale, and more details can be found on YG’s official website.
