YG Entertainment is poised for a major resurgence with its girl groups, as 2NE1 reunites and both Blackpink and Babymonster gear up for new projects.
2NE1, reuniting after eight years, will kick off their return with a solo concert on Oct. 5 and 6 at the Olympic Hall in Seoul’s Olympic Park, titled “2024 2NE1 Concert ‘Welcome Back’ in Seoul.” This marks their first solo concert since “All or Nothing” in Seoul in March 2014, making it a decade-long wait for fans. With the venue holding only 3,000 to 4,000 seats, tickets are expected to be in high demand.
The four members are putting in intense effort for their concert, supported by their fans’ excitement. Sandara Park recently shared on a radio show, “It still feels surreal, and I’m incredibly happy. The rehearsals are tough, but the joy it brings makes it worth it.” She also mentioned that the group is rehearsing intensely and planning to tour multiple countries. CL shared glimpses of their practice sessions on social media, further raising excitement.
Blackpink, the world’s leading girl group, is preparing for a major comeback. After renewing their contract with YG late last year, they are set for a full group return and world tour next year. Following a period of solo activities, Blackpink will reunite to once again dominate the global music scene.
Before their official comeback, Blackpink will make a special full-group appearance at a press event for their film “Blackpink World Tour [Born Pink] in Cinemas” on Aug. 9 at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo district, Seoul, to celebrate their eighth anniversary. This will be the first time the group has appeared together since their world tour finale last September. The event will feature a pink carpet and a stage greeting with all four members—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—expressing their gratitude to fans.
Babymonster, who debuted successfully this year as a leading fifth-generation girl group, is also gearing up for active promotions. They are currently on their debut fan meeting tour, “[Babymonster Presents: See You There],” spanning seven cities and 12 events. The septet plans to expand their reach globally with a world tour slated for next year.
