Netflix’s new reality show, ‘The Influencer,’ is set to premiere on August 6. This first-of-its-kind social survival show features seventy-seven of South Korea’s top influencers, whose market value is directly tied to their social media presence.

At a press conference held at 4 p.m. before the show’s release on August 6, co-director Lee Jae-seok said, “Influencers have become so popular that it’s practically a new profession. We thought it would be entertaining to see the top influencers in Korea compete against each other.”

These influencers, boasting a combined following of 120 million across platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and AfreecaTV, include notable figures such as Jang Keun-suk, RISABAE, Pani Bottle, Jin Yong-jin, Shim Eu-ddeum, and DaeDo.

The show has contestants compete to attract the most attention and engagement through various missions designed to increase their follower count and viewership.

Co-director Son Soo-jeong said, “I realized how much dedication and energy it takes to build such a large following and fandom. In an era where people often don’t know what they like, these influencers are diving deep into their passions and sharing them with others.”
