K-pop girl group Fifty Fifty, restructured into a five-member lineup after a contract dispute, has unveiled the faces of its new members.
The group’s managment agency Attrakt released a group trailer video on their official YouTube channel at midnight on Aug. 9. The video features existing member Keena along with four new members on a seesaw. Close-up shots of each member’s face are shown, followed by scenes of them embracing each other.
The phrase “Perfect balance at last, Fifty Fifty” appears in the video.
Attrakt introduced the names of three new members as Chanelle Moon, Yewon, and Hana, while one member’s name remains a mystery, represented by emojis. The newly reformed Fifty Fifty is scheduled to make a comeback on Sept. 20.
Fifty Fifty originally debuted as a four-member group in November 2022 and gained widespread popularity with their hit song “Cupid,” which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. However, just as their popularity was rising, former members Aran, Sio, Saena, and Keena filed an injunction to suspend their exclusive contracts with Attrakt, citing issues such as opaque accounting and one-sided activities disregarding their health.
The court rejected the members’ request, ruling that Attrakt had not violated its obligations regarding accounting transparency and health management. During the legal process, Keena withdrew her appeal and returned to the agency alone.
Attrakt claims that the production outsourcing company, The Givers, instigated the termination of the members’ contracts to poach them and is currently engaged in legal battles with The Givers and the three former members.
The management agency has terminated the contracts of the three former members and restructured the group into a quintet by adding four new members, including Keena.
