The documentary film RM: Right People, Wrong Place, featuring BTS leader RM, will have its world premiere at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
CJ 4DPLEX announced on Sept. 4 that RM: Right People, Wrong Place has been officially selected for the Open Cinema section of this year’s BIFF. CJ 4DPLEX is handling global distribution for the film.
The Open Cinema section at BIFF showcases new works that combine artistic quality with popular appeal, with screenings held at the outdoor theater of the Busan Cinema Center. This marks the first time a K-pop documentary will be screened in this large-scale outdoor setting at the festival.
The film RM: Right People, Wrong Place chronicles the making of RM’s second solo album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” released in May. It captures RM’s exploration of his identity as BTS’s leader, as a solo artist, and as Kim Nam-joon, offering a deep, introspective look at his journey. The film also features visually striking elements reminiscent of an art film, similar to the music videos from his solo album.
Directed by Lee Seok-jun, who previously worked on the music videos for BTS member j-hope’s solo album “Jack In The Box,” the film also has a special poster designed for its BIFF debut, highlighting its artistic mood.
Following its premiere at BIFF, RM: Right People, Wrong Place will be released in theaters worldwide. Details on ticketing and screening times at BIFF will be available through BTS’s official channels, CJ 4DPLEX, and the BIFF website.
“This is a significant moment, as RM: Right People, Wrong Place becomes the first K-pop documentary to have a large-scale outdoor screening at BIFF,” said Suh Kye-won, general manager of HYBE Media Studio, which produced the film. “The documentary offers an honest look into RM’s inner world, complemented by Lee Seok-jun’s fresh and artistic visuals, making it a unique and compelling work. We hope it resonates with audiences.”
