A second season of Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars is set to be produced next year.
Since its release on Sept. 17, Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars has become the first variety show from Korea to top Netflix’s Global TOP 10 Non-English TV rankings for three consecutive weeks. The show’s success has secured a second season, which is set to bring even more intense culinary battles. Production is currently underway, with a planned release in the latter half of next year.
The second season will once again be led by Studio Slam, with directors Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji, along with writer Mo Eun-seol, joining forces to deliver a heightened level of competition. Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji expressed their gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the viewers, we were able to continue to a second season. We will do our best to meet the expectations and support we’ve received.”
The show also attracted notable attention in Korea. For several weeks following its release, it performed well in local discussions, ranking high in both drama and non-drama categories in the Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex TV survey. It also became the first OTT variety show to rank first in Gallup Korea’s ‘Favorite Program’ poll for September.
Season 1 of Black and White Chef: Culinary Class Wars, where underdog chefs challenge Korea’s top celebrity chefs in a 100-person culinary showdown, is currently available on Netflix.
