ATTRAKT, the agency managing the K-pop group Fifty Fifty, has filed a lawsuit seeking 20 billion won (approximately $14.48 million) in damages against Warner Music Korea, accusing the company of contract interference involving three former members of the group.
On Oct. 23, ATTRAKT announced the lawsuit against Warner Music Korea’s former CEO, surnamed Jin, and its current executive director, surnamed Yoon.
ATTRAKT stated that “Warner Music Korea played a key role in the tampering,” and disclosed that a meeting with the former members’ parents occurred at Warner Music Korea’s headquarters on May. 17, 2023. The agency also confirmed that all critical evidence from that time has been secured.
The agency stated, “We will hold the company fully responsible for the illegal actions that disrupted the regular activities of Fifty Fifty’s members, causing significant harm to our business.” ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong-joon strongly criticized Warner Music Korea, saying, “It is both unforgivable and unethical for a branch of Warner Music, one of the world’s top three record labels, to attempt to poach valuable artists from a small-to-medium-sized Korean company.” He added that actual damages exceed 20 billion won and that the compensation amount could increase in the future.
