The documentary featuring BTS’s RM is coming to theaters this December.
The documentary film “RM: Right People, Wrong Place”—directed by Lee Seok-jun, distributed by CJ 4DPLEX, and produced by HYBE—follows BTS leader RM’s journey in creating his second solo album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” which was released in May. This highly anticipated documentary will premiere globally on Dec. 5, reaching over 90 countries and regions, including South Korea.
At midnight on Oct. 30, RM shared news of the global release on BTS’s official social media, along with the film’s main poster. The poster showcases a vibrant, artistic collage capturing various moments of RM in different settings.
“RM: Right People, Wrong Place” made history as the first K-pop documentary invited to the Open Cinema section at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), where it premiered at the Busan Cinema Center’s outdoor theater on Oct. 7. The film’s compelling narrative and striking visuals resonated with audiences, earning critical acclaim at its debut screening.
The eight-month documentary provides an in-depth look at RM’s creative process for his second solo album, featuring candid interviews that reveal his personal reflections. It also follows his introspective journey as the leader of BTS and Kim Nam-joon, the solo artist. The film’s title reflects the blurred lines between “Right” and “Wrong,” marking the start of his exploration of self-identity and meaning.
Meanwhile, RM has gained international recognition for his originality and artistic vision. The music video for “LOST!”—the lead track of his second solo album—recently won the Craft: Cinematography award at the 2024 Berlin Commercial Awards, along with two gold awards for Direction and Production Design and two bronze awards for Cinematography and Color Grading at Ciclope Festival.
