On Nov. 14, Netflix hosted a press conference at Yongsan CGV to introduce Zombieverse: New Blood, the second season of the hit series Zombieverse. Directors Park Jin-kyung and Moon Sang-don, along with cast members Noh Hong-chul, Lee Si-young, Jo Se-ho, Taeyeon, Yook Sung-jae, DinDin, Code Kunst, Kwon Eun-bi, Patricia, and Andre Rush, showed up to build excitement for the new season.
Park Jin-kyung teased that Season 2 is “on a greater scale” and said, “With ‘new blood’ in the title, viewers can expect plenty of surprises. We’ve got a mix of new and returning cast members, with about half of them not making it to the end,” Park laughed. “You can also expect this season to be a ‘vari-drama’—there’s the humor of a classic Korean variety show, but with a storyline that really pulls you in.”
Moon Sang-don added, “Season 2 is a lot more intense. The Zombieverse world is set up like a game, where there’s a big final goal and a bunch of mini-quests the cast has to complete to get there. We built a realistic, high-stakes setting that really brings out everyone’s unique style of surviving.”
When asked about what viewers can expect this time around, Noh Hong-chul hinted at a possible “betrayal” among the cast. “This season only confirmed my belief that you can’t trust anyone. You’d think everyone would work together with zombies all around, but human greed has no limits,” he said.
Lee Si-young agreed, adding, “My mantra was, ‘I can only trust myself.’” Patricia chimed in, “I thought since I’m the youngest, my unnies(sisters) and oppas(brothers) would protect me. Spoiler: they didn’t.” Jo Se-ho laughed, admitting he wanted to play the heroic act, which led to a few close calls. “I filmed this before my wedding, so whenever I felt scared, Si-young would remind me, ‘Hey, you have a fiancé waiting for you. You have to survive.’ That kept me focused.”
Season 1 was known for cast member Dex’s unforgettable scenes, and Moon assured fans, “Dex does his thing again this season.” With higher stakes, fresh zombies, and moral dilemmas, Zombieverse: New Blood will hit Netflix on Nov. 19 at 5 pm, ready to give fans a wild ride.
