BTS members are making K-pop history with their solo projects, breaking new records on global music charts during their military hiatus.
According to the U.K. Official Charts released on Nov. 15, Jin’s solo track “I’ll Be There” from his album “Happy” ranked No. 65 on the Single Download chart and No. 73 on the Single Sales chart. The song also placed No. 101 on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global and No. 118 on the Daily Top Songs Global, staying on major charts for three consecutive weeks.
Jimin’s solo track “Who” from his second album “MUSE” has remained on the Official Singles Chart for 17 consecutive weeks, setting a new record for his longest solo chart run. It currently ranks No. 75 on the Official Singles Chart, No. 3 in Single Downloads, and No. 5 in Single Sales.
On Spotify, “Who” has broken the record for the fastest 1 billion streams by a Korean artist this year. It is the only K-pop song released in 2024 to surpass 1 billion streams, maintaining its No. 4 position on the Weekly Top Songs Global for four months. Thanks to the success of “Who,” Jimin’s “MUSE” has now surpassed 1.7 billion streams, while his first album “FACE” has nearly reached 2.5 billion streams. Jimin is now the only K-pop solo artist to have two albums with over 1.7 billion streams on Spotify.
V has become the first K-pop soloist to surpass 19 million followers on Spotify. His debut album “Layover” recently surpassed 2 billion streams, and the track “Love Me Again” ranked No. 65 on this week’s Weekly Top Songs Global. V, who has consistently released holiday songs at the end of each year, is set to dominate the charts again this winter. He will release a holiday duet, “White Christmas (with V of BTS),” with legendary pop artist Bing Crosby on Dec. 6.
Jungkook’s debut single “Seven (feat. Latto)” and the title track “Standing Next to You” from his solo album “GOLDEN” have both remained on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global for 70 and 53 weeks, respectively, continuing their chart success. Notably, “Seven” has recently reached 2 billion streams, making Jungkook the first K-pop artist to achieve this milestone with a single track. It took only 469 days for “Seven” to reach 2 billion streams, making it the fourth fastest in Spotify history, after Harry Styles’ “As It Was” (335 days), Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber’s “Stay” (392 days), and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”
