Global superstar Jennie of Blackpink has been named among the winners of the Billboard Women in Music awards. According to the list announced on Feb. 12, Jennie will receive the Global Force Award.
“As a part of Blackpink, Jennie has taken over charts and stages across the world,” Billboard said. “Now, as the K-pop star gears up to release her debut solo album, ‘Ruby,’ on March 7, she’s already seen major success with singles like ‘Love Hangover.’”
Billboard Women in Music recognizes female artists, creators, producers, and executives who have made significant impacts on the music industry each year. Jennie will be celebrated alongside other global stars like Ángela Aguilar, Erykah Badu, GloRilla, Megan Moroney, Meghan Trainor, and Tyla.
The K-pop sensation made waves with her solo debut last October when her single “Mantra” charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for two consecutive weeks. Her recent single, “Love Hangover” (feat. Dominic Fike), also reached No. 96 on the Hot 100, setting a new personal record.
Jennie is set to release her first solo album, Ruby, on March 7, building excitement following the pre-release of the music video for “ZEN” and the single “Love Hangover.”
This year’s Billboard Women in Music event will take place at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles on March 29.
