Son Heung-min recorded two assists in a single match, securing his fifth career “10 goals and 10 assists” season while becoming just the 11th player in Premier League history to reach 70 goals and 70 assists—an achievement that eluded English legends such as David Beckham, Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, and Michael Owen.
The 33-year-old forward started Tottenham Hotspur’s away match against Ipswich Town on Feb. 22, playing 74 minutes and notching two assists in a 4-1 victory that extended Spurs’ league winning streak to three games.
Son set up the opening goal in the 18th minute, skillfully controlling a long pass from Archie Gray before outmaneuvering two defenders and delivering a sharp cross for Brennan Johnson to finish with his right foot. Johnson struck again in the 26th minute, once more off a Son assist. This time, Son broke into the left side of the penalty area and sent a precise pass across goal for Johnson to slot home with his left foot.
Tottenham conceded once in the 36th minute but secured the win with second-half goals from Djed Spence in the 77th and Dejan Kulusevski in the 84th.
With the two assists, Son now has 10 goals and 10 assists across 35 appearances in all competitions this season—six goals and nine assists in the Premier League, three goals in six UEFA Europa League matches, one assist in the FA Cup, and one goal in the EFL Cup. It marks his fifth 10-10 season after achieving the feat in 2017-18 (18 goals, 11 assists), 2019-20 (18 goals, 11 assists), 2020-21 (22 goals, 17 assists), and 2023-24 (17 goals, 10 assists).
Son also reached the 70-goal, 70-assist milestone in the Premier League, with 126 goals and 71 assists in 326 appearances. Only 10 players had previously accomplished the feat: Teddy Sheringham (146 goals, 76 assists), Wayne Rooney (208 goals, 103 assists), Frank Lampard (177 goals, 102 assists), Ryan Giggs (109 goals, 162 assists), Andy Cole (187 goals, 73 assists), Dennis Bergkamp (87 goals, 94 assists), Steven Gerrard (120 goals, 92 assists), Thierry Henry (175 goals, 74 assists), Mohamed Salah (181 goals, 84 assists), and Kevin De Bruyne (70 goals, 118 assists).
Among active players, only Salah, De Bruyne, and Son belong to the exclusive club. Even Premier League all-time top scorer Shearer (306 goals, 64 assists), Kane (213 goals, 46 assists), Owen (150 goals, 31 assists), and Beckham (62 goals, 80 assists) fell short of the record.
